I get a lot of questions about how I create my artwork. So I decided to put together some "stages" pages to show a few drawings and paintings in progress, and share some techniques, tips and tricks of the trade. Hopefully, it'll answer some of the frequently asked questions, as well as help people learn a thing or two.
By no means is this supposed to be an online workshop; nor should my tutorials be taken as gospel. This is meant to merely share some of the ways in which I prefer to work. I'm an art chameleon - I'm constantly discovering new techniques and refining old ones. Realism and precision used to be important to me, but they have long lost their appeal. Inciting emotion and thought is the most important thing for me when it comes to art. I love playing around with designs, styles, and color combinations, which I realize may not appeal to some. I've known plenty of "art purists" back in the day who would probably cringe if they learned about my beliefs and methods. I despise rules. I would call myself an unrepentant art theory abuser - while I do follow certain rules, I certainly don't allow them to restrict me.
For me, the best way to learn has been trial and error, not being afraid to screw up. I hope these tutorials help you in your creative endeavors. And remember: studying from as many sources as possible and constantly practicing is what makes one a better artist.
I am planning more of these tutorials, including narrated videos, so check back often!
